Islam is a religion which respects the rights of animals. Here, we mention an example.
On the way to conquest Mecca, the Prophet Mohammad (s) went in front of the army of Islam. He (a) saw a mother dog, whose puppies stuck to her drinking milk.
The Prophet (s) changed the route of the army and told Ju‘ayl b. Suraqa,
“Stand in front of that dog and guard her puppies to prevent any harm of the army to them.”
