Tolerance and beautiful manner of Imam Hassan al-Mojtaba (as) towards the guilty servant

One of the actions that eliminates hatred and grudges is to do good to the people who have done wrong to us. This is the manner that God almighty advises us to follow in the Qur’an and we offer an example of it here:

Imam Hassan (as) had a sheep he loved. One day he saw that the sheep’s leg is broken, so he asked his servant, “Who broke the animal’s leg?”

The servant said, “I did.”

Imam (as) asked, “Why?”

The servant answered, “To burn your heart and make you sad”.

Imam Hassan (as) said:

“[But] I will make you happy; you are now free for the God’s sake!”

This is an example of doing good against the wrong deeds of others that God advises us in the Qur’an in sura al-Fussilat:

“Good and evil [conduct] are not equal. Repel [evil] with what is best. [If you do so,] behold, he between whom and you was enmity, will then be as though he were a sympathetic friend.”

And this is the way of conduct of Imam Hassan Mojtaba (as), which God almighty advises us in the Qur’an, and we mentioned here.
