Distrusting the trust is not in Islam

In 7 AH, Muslims and the Prophet Muhammad (s) were trapped in the deserts around Khaybar. Their provisions ran out and they were very hungry.

In this situation, a shepherd, who grazed Jews’ sheep, went to the Prophet (s) and became Muslim after learning about Islamic teachings. Then, he told the Prophet (s),

“These sheep belong to the Jews who betrayed you. I do not want to go back to them. So, I leave the sheep at your discretion and stay with you.”

The Prophet (s) told the man,

“These sheep are trusted with you and in our religion, distrusting a trust is never permitted. You need to return all the sheep to their owners.”

The shepherd obeyed the Prophet’s (s) order and returned the sheep to their owners and came back to Muslims.
