You are all Free

After the conquest of Mecca, the Prophet Muhammad (s) went near the Kaaba and saw that a group of his enemies sought refuge to the Kaaba; while, they did not know what punishment awaited them.

The Prophet (s) told the disbelievers, “O people of Quraysh! What do you think I would order about you?”

While they had tortured and annoyed Muslims, they answered, “we do not expect but goodness from you. You are our generous and honorable brother and now have the power.”

The Prophet (s) said, “Today is not the day of criticism and admonishing! Go and you are released.”

This was an example of the Prophet’s (a) forgiveness about his enemies.
