After the demise of the Prophet (s), Jathliq, the leader of Christian scholars went to Medina and said, “we have read in the Bible that a prophet will come after Jesus (a) and we have received the news of coming of Muhammad b. Abdullah (s) and in what we have read in our books, it is mentioned that prophets do not leave this world until they assign vicegerents to replace them among their people and people benefit from their lights.” Then, he asked some questions and Abu Bakr did not give any answer he liked; then, he asked them from Imam Ali (a) and Imam (a) gave him answers he liked. Then, he asked Imam Ali (a) an argument for proving his claim. Imam Ali (a) said, “O Christian, you left your place while you hated the one you intended to ask questions and expressed interest for knowing the truth and guidance while you had something different in the heart and my position was shown to you in the dream, and my word was narrated for you and you were warned not to oppose me and were ordered to obey me.”
The Christian leader said, “by God(Allah) Who sent Jesus (s), you said the truth, and except God, the Almighty, no one knew what you informed about me and I give testimony that there is no god but God and Muhammad (s) is the Messenger of God and you are Muhammad’s (s) vicegerent and the most deserving one to his position.
