Here we review one of the prophecies of the Prophet (s) of the signs of the coming of the Twelfth Imam (ajl) when people can see the Imam upon his coming.
The Prophet (s) said:
“When Mahdi (ajl) comes from Mecca, people around the world look at their palms and see and speak to him.”
In this hadith, the Prophet (s) refers to a video connection at the palms of the people of the world to communicate with each other. One of the most widely used devices in the world today is the video smartphone.
Smartphones provide online video connection using the Internet and we can see that this device is mostly used at the palms of the people.
The Prophet (s) raises the two points:
1- The device is used at the palms of the people.
2- The video connection is online across the world.
However, in another hadith from Imam Sadiq (as) on this audio visual connection, he gives prophesy about this era with advancement of technology 1200 years ago.
Imam Sadiq (as) says:
When Imam Mahdi (as) establishes the government, he will appoint and send an individual to each area; namely, he will choose governors and rulers for all areas around the world. (as Imam Ali (as) had his own governmental covenant, when he sent Malik to Egypt), Imam Mahdi (as) will also tell his governors: “you have your covenant at your palm; i.e. he gives their covenant at their palms, and says: “When you are faced with a problem that you do not know its solution, and you cannot analyze it, look at your palm.
What does it mean?
It might make a complicated sense, but today you see that smartphones and advanced computers are connected to the Internet, and as soon as you have a problem with an issue, referring to these small pocket smartphones, which are hand held, you can get the most up-to-date and comprehensive information from the international networks.
Of course, it might have a different meaning, i.e. the coming of another form of device or technology in the feature, which has the same features. But what seems logical with today’s technological situation is the video smartphone.
This is part of the prophecy of the Prophet (s) and Imam Sadiq (as) in 1200 to 1400 years before the advancement of technology of the signs of the coming of the Twelfth Imam (ajl), which we reviewed here.
The prophecy indicates knowledge of the Prophet (s) and the twelve Imams (as) after him about the future.
