Abu Basir, who was blind, narrates as follows:
I went to Imam Muhammad Baqir (peace be upon him) and said: “Are you the heir of the Messenger of God?”
Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: “Yes.”
I said: “Is the Messenger of God the heir of the prophets and was he aware of all that the prophets knew?”
He said: “Yes.”
I said: “Do you have the power to raise the dead and heal the blind?”
Imam said: “By God’s permission, yes.” Then he said: “Come forward, Aba Muhammad!”
I went ahead. Imam put his blessed hand on my face and eyes and I suddenly saw the sun, sky and earth and became a seer.
Then Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said to me: “Would you like to be like this and be treated like all other people on the Day of Judgment, or return to your previous state of blindness and be a member of Paradise on the Day of Judgment?”
I said: “No, I will go back to the way I was before.”
Imam touched my eyes again and I became blind.
