Imam Sadiq (a.s.) had a relative named “Abdullah Aftas.”
He was a man who was very disrespectful towards the holy existence of the Imam and had repeatedly attacked him with a knife!
Imam Sadiq (a.s.) bequeathed that after his martyrdom, should give one third of his property in the way of God Almighty, then he specified how much money to give to each person.
Hazrat did not even forget Abdullah Aftas in his will and said:
Give him 70 dinars (gold coins) from my property!
The maidservant of Imam Sadiq (a.s.) who was surprised by this will said, Sir!!!
This man stabbed at you, now you want to help him financially?!!
Hazrat said: Salmi!
Have you read Quran?!
He said: Yes, my lord.
Hazrat said: Have you not heard this verse that God Almighty said:
والَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ مَآ أَمَرَ اللَّهُ بِهِ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ وَ يَخَافُونَ سُوءَ الْحِسَابِ.
And (the wise) are those who connect what God has commanded to connect with it (observation of) relationship) they connect and communicate. And before their Lord (because of the knowledge they have), they are humble and afraid of the difficulty of reckoning. (Surah Ra’ad, verse 21)
